We are excited to announce that we are taking part in the opening event of the project “Capable youth catalyze holistic approach to sustainable development and green transition” supported by the Nordic Council and the Nordic Culture Point.
This project brings together Youth Ambassadors, UN Youth and other active youth from Finland, Sweden, Iceland and Estonia as well as Sámi Youth Council members.
During the project, we will learn about the sustainable development and human rights monitoring and reporting mechanisms in the UN and in our respective countries. We will also get skills to meaningfully contribute to Voluntary National Review (VNR) processes, which are a way to assess and present national progress in implementing the 2030 Agenda and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
Meeting at Allianssi, where we delved into the impactful work of UN Youth Delegates in Finland. A big shoutout to Sara Nymsn for the enlightening introduction!
The keynote speeches were nothing short of motivating:
– Vala Karen Viðarsdóttir, Secretary-General of UNA Icelan, captivated us with insights on “Civil society participation in the VNR of the Sustainable Development Goals of Iceland.”
– Sara Júlía Baldvinsdóttir, Iceland’s Youth Delegate on Sustainable Development emphasized “The importance of youth participation in the VNR processes.”
These conversations are crucial as we strive for a sustainable future.
We believe that youth have a vital role to play in shaping a just and transformative sustainable development that leaves no one behind.
