Conference Overview: The Green and Just Transition Conference 2024 is a three-day event (29th, 30th November, and 1st December 2024) featuring an intensive program of high-level discussions, working groups, and the development of a civil society and international stakeholders’ appeal to the global community.

A preparatory meeting and visits to Estonian Government Institutions and the Estonian representation of the European Commission will be organized for high-level experts and invited speakers on the 27th and 28th November 2024 in Tallinn.

Addressing Global Challenges: The conference will address the geopolitical shock and its consequences following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which have influenced security and democracy development in the environment, economy, and digital collaboration. We will discuss the role of CSOs and various stakeholders in achieving sustainable peace and the importance of dialogue in healing divides to achieve a sustainable, green, and just transition to adapt societies to new realities.

Connecting Stakeholders: This event is an opportunity to reaffirm the significance of the European Union, the Nordic Council, and their member states in promoting a sustainable future and achieving a safer, greener, socially sustainable, and digitally integrated community. It will connect regional networks of practitioners, policymakers, civil society organizations, analysts, politicians, military personnel, academics, media, and international donors.

The Narva Declaration: At this conference, the Narva Declaration will be finalized and approved, along with local Citizens’ Action plans, which will be submitted to the European Commission, International Institutions, and various thematic networks dedicated to peace, security, democracy, and the rule of law.

Co-organized by Leaders in Sustainability: The conference is co-organized by a consortium of international partners from Green Habito Network member countries and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through the Estonian Development Fund. It is also supported by the British Council, the Nordic Council of Ministers office in Estonia, the Estonian National Foundation of Civil Society, and Green Habito network members.

Main Aim: The “Green and Just Transition Conference 2024” aims to bring together experts, interest groups, civil society networks, and various parties to discuss challenges, share views, and experiences on a just transition to a green economy.
